Co-Founder and CEO at Hyka

Jero, can you tell us about your journey as a founder and what led you to start Hyka?

My journey as a founder began with a deep passion for solving complex problems in healthcare. I co-founded Hyka with the vision of transforming how healthcare organizations manage their operations and improve patient outcomes. The startup journey has been incredibly challenging but also incredibly rewarding. Every day brings new obstacles, from securing funding to building the right team, but the impact we're making keeps me motivated.

What were some of the biggest challenges you faced in the early stages of building Hyka?

The early stages were particularly tough. We faced challenges with product-market fit, securing initial funding, and building credibility in the healthcare space. One of the biggest struggles was feeling isolated as a founder - making critical decisions without having peers who truly understood the unique pressures of startup life. The healthcare industry is complex and highly regulated, which added another layer of complexity to our journey.

How did joining Pando's Peer Groups help you navigate these challenges?

Joining Pando's Peer Groups was a game-changer for me. Having access to other founders who were going through similar experiences provided invaluable support and perspective. The peer group meetings became a safe space where I could discuss challenges openly, get feedback on strategic decisions, and learn from others' experiences. The accountability and support from my peer group members helped me stay focused and motivated during the most difficult times.

Can you share a specific example of how the peer group helped you overcome a particular challenge?

Absolutely. During one particularly challenging period when we were struggling with our go-to-market strategy, my peer group provided crucial insights and connections. One member introduced me to key contacts in the healthcare industry who became instrumental in our growth. Another peer shared their experience with a similar challenge, which helped me avoid costly mistakes. The collective wisdom and network of the group proved invaluable.

What advice would you give to other founders who are considering joining a peer group?

I would strongly encourage any founder to join a peer group like Pando's. The value of having a supportive community of peers who understand your journey cannot be overstated. Be open to sharing your challenges and be willing to help others with theirs. The relationships you build in these groups often extend beyond the meetings and can lead to lasting partnerships and friendships. It's one of the best investments you can make in your personal and professional development as a founder.
